Eye contact- a goal or not a goal? The hot Speech Therapy debate.

Do we force a child to make eye contact when it doesn’t come naturally to them? Are they aware they are missing out on social information?

Eye contact gives us a plethora of information when in a conversation. It's the nonverbal cues that you may not even be aware of in the moment, that give us the most information.

People who have difficulty maintaining eye contact or dislike maintaining eye contact miss out on a ton of useful information. It can tell us someone's intentions, mood, focus, etc. Would it be motivating to make eye contact if a person knew how much they could learn in a social site toon?
