Natural Consequences

The term “consequence” gets a bad rap. It makes you instantly think of something negative. That’s not the case with a natural consequence.

It simply means, what happens after an event or emotion. It can be positive or negative.

For example, if a child cleans up their toys, they’ll be able to find everything they’re looking for.

Another example is, if my 4 year old refuses to wear a jacket when it’s 20 degrees outside, her natural consequence is she’ll be very cold.

Natural consequences lead to intrinsically led motivation. This is where we see growth.
